US developer and management company form extended stay partnership

US: Mountain Shore Properties (MSP), recently named Developer of the Year by Hyatt, has teamed up with Olympia Hotel Management (OHM).

The partnership will see OHM, which manages properties in the Northeast and Midwest of America, strengthen its ties with South Carolina-based developer, MSP.

“This type of partnership puts us in a great space from New England all the way to Florida,” said Stephen Wendell, CEO of Mountain Shore Properties. “It will allow Olympia and MSP to see more development opportunities.”

The collaboration has already seen OHM assume management of three MSP extended stay hotels: the Hyatt House Mount Pleasant-Midtown, in South Carolina; the Residence Inn Charlottesville Downtown, in Virginia; and the Hampton Inn & Suites Tallahassee Capitol-University, in Florida.

The partnership has resulted in ongoing evaluation of projects under Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton brands respectively.

John Schultzel, SVP of growth and strategy for Olympia, said: “We have a common DNA and a similar track record for creating award-winning properties, and we share a desire to collaborate in premier select service projects going forward.”

OHM won Hyatt’s Operating Excellence Award in 2016, while MSP won Hyatt’s Developer of the Year in 2019 for recognition of its “excellent construction quality, efficiency, and hotel development in strategic locations.”
