Ovolo teams up with co-working start-up

Hotel and serviced apartment operator Ovolo has signed a co-working deal with start-up TwoSpace.

The Hong Kong operator's flagship Sydney hotel Ovolo Woolloomooloo will feature TwoSpace co-working spaces in its lounge, allowing TwoSpace members to work round the clock, with access to refreshments and food and beverage discounts.

This is the second hotel venue for TwoSpace whose modus operandi is creating co-working spaces in closed restaurants and hospitality venues during the day across Australia. In June, TwoSpace started a co-working space at TFE Hotels' Vibe Hotel Rushcutters Bay in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

"We know their [TwoSpace] members are looking for a work space out of the ordinary and we can provide exactly that through our quirky cool design interiors, cutting-edge technology, free Wi-Fi and all the conveniences of the modern office," said Ovolo Hotels chief operating officer Dave Baswel.

Ovolo will be installing co-working spaces at all its Ovolo hotels in Australia including the 1888 hotel in Pyrmont, Sydney.

TwoSpace charges its members a monthly fee starting from $69 a month for the use of co-working spaces across its network and revenue-shares its fees with venues.

Recharge for us was that gathering of highly skilled professional individuals...and a true opportunity to spend 24-48 hours with these guys, build relationships, build a true understanding of how the different sectors within this hospitality world operate. From my perspective...in terms of the coliving, student accommodation and apartment-orientated industries, it was a really good opportunity to learn how those verticals operate, and how perhaps what we do as an organisation can be referenced within that particular vertical.”
