Edinburgh apartments make GQ’s top hotels list

The Chester Residence in Edinburgh has been featured in GQ magazine’s top 33 hotels for 2018.

The property has 23 luxury serviced apartments, each of which takes up an entire floor of five traditional Georgian townhouses. Each has an expansive living room, separate bedrooms mostly with en suites and fully fitted kitchens.

GQ Magazine says The Chester Residence "ups the accommodation ante with 23 luxurious Georgian townhouse apartments that combine the privacy and comfort of home (if you happen to be an affluent interior designer) with the service of a five-star hotel."

The Owners' Residence mews apartment comes in for particular praise: "The vast VIP suite is borderline bonkers, singing a low-lit hymn to hedonism with its eight-seat Jacuzzi, bespoke Louis Vuitton furnishings and a private cinema room."

Graham Wood, owner of The Chester Residence, said: "At The Chester Residence our guests have the luxury of space and privacy in the west end of Edinburgh only a short walk from the centre of the city. It's gratifying that our offering ranks alongside such iconic names in the hospitality sector as Claridges, Cliveden and The Lanesborough as well as the newer edgy entrants like The Mondrian and Soho Farmhouse."

“The last two days have been great. There’s been a really, really diverse group, but not such a large audience that we couldn't get to know each other and really spend more quality time together. I was really excited to hear that Recharge rotates around to different markets across Europe. So it will definitely be on my agenda for next year.”
